INTRODUCING: Palettiquette Monthly Online Painting Classes!
Wait a minute, what is a Palettiquette?
Good question, palette pal.
Palettiquette (palette + etiquette) is an online group activity aimed at teaching artists (hey, that's you) more about watercolour - both technique AND terminology. Palettiquette started out as a free colour theory class (which you should totally take right meow) and has expanded into online painting classes with a new topic each month.
The aim of the game is to keep up regular practise, learn new techniques from regular and easy-to-digest videos and instructions, hang out online and share your work with a bunch of like-minded creatives - and most importantly, have fun!
Yeah cool, but why should I take this class?
If learning to paint sunsets and night skies isn't your thing - that's cool! Check back soon for the next topic.
If you're not sure about Palettiquette in general, here's my totally non-biased reasons why you should join:
Oh! And the rules of the Palettiquette Colour Theory class still apply. The paintings in this month's classes can all be created with a limited palette of 3 primary colours of yellow, red and blue - with the option to use a couple more if you like.
Wait - is this... good?
YES! Colours mixed from 3 primaries will have more harmony in a finished piece - instead of whacking together a bunch of random ones. They'll all come from the OG 3 meaning they're related. Mixing your own will also save you a tonne of money. Why buy 200+ colours when you can mix them from 3?
If the possibility of 200 colours from 3 is blowing your mind - make sure you check out the FREE Palettiquette Colour Theory class - it has all this info and more, and will prepare you for this class!

Oh, hey! I'm Emma - and my favourite thing in the world is to help people find and unleash their inner artist. My second favourite thing is chocolate milk.
In December 2015 I set out to make some mildly offensive greeting cards as my new business venture, Black Chalk Collective. With no idea about Photoshop or Illustrator at the time, I figured I would have to create the designs by hand. Through this discovery process, I uncovered a hidden talent and passion for Brush Pen Lettering. My trial and error lessons were shared on Instagram, and in the space of 2 years my online following grew to over 100,000 pen friends. From there I became obsessed with pointed pen, chalk lettering, watercolour... you name it.
These days, my real passion is teaching other creatives that you don't need 8 years of design experience or a degree in visual arts to create beautiful art. All you need is patience, dedication and a helping hand (that's me!) My online school is the perfect place to find bite-sized, affordable classes - that keep you accountable as we work through them as a group each month. I also share tips in my bi-monthly magazine Penultimate, as well as in my first published book 'Brush Lettering from A to Z'.
If you would like to pay with PayPal / debit card instead of credit, please use the PayPal app or website to send $30 AUD ( Australian dollars) to firstname.lastname@example.org using your preferred email to be enrolled in the class with. I will then manually enrol you once payment has been received.
You will also need a login / profile with my Online School, please create that so I can register you. If you've already taken an online class here before, you'll already have one.
Please allow some time for me to manually enrol you - I'll try my best to do it ASAP ...but I may be asleep if we're in different time zones!
Unfortunately, PayPal only works for courses in USD, so the process is a little trickier - but still possible :)
